Real-time tracking for physical assets

Tracked assets send their location to one live view. Geofences raise alerts when an asset leaves or enters an area, and every event is recorded so movement can be explained later.

The challenge

Many organizations lose sight of reusable physical assets, such as pallets and containers, the moment they leave a facility. Teams fall back on phone calls and spreadsheets to find them, and the answers are late, partial and hard to trust.

The cost shows up as losses, delays and disputes with partners over who held an asset and when. Without a continuous record of location, nobody can prove where an asset went, and the staff effort spent chasing it adds up.

What it does

  • Continuous location reporting

Tracking devices on assets report position over a cellular connection, so location does not depend on the asset being inside a site with its own network.

  • Live fleet dashboard

One dashboard shows where every tracked asset is now and where it has been, replacing separate spreadsheets kept by different teams.

  • Geofencing

Areas such as warehouses, customer sites and routes are drawn as boundaries, and the platform detects when an asset enters or leaves each one.

  • Automated alerts

Notifications go to the right people when an asset crosses a boundary or behaves unexpectedly, in place of phone calls to find out what happened.

  • Movement history

Each asset keeps a record of its journey, which gives teams evidence for resolving disputes about delivery and custody.

  • Questions in plain language

An assistant can answer questions about asset status and movement from the tracking data, so staff do not need to build reports by hand.

How it works

  1. Attach and register

Tracking devices are fitted to assets and registered to an owner, a site or a customer, so every position report belongs to a known asset.

  2. Report location

Devices send position data to a cloud platform, which stores it and keeps the live view of the whole fleet current.

  3. Apply boundaries and rules

Geofences and alert rules are defined for sites, routes and exceptions. Each location update is checked against them as it arrives.

  4. Alert and review

Alerts reach the responsible team, who open the asset history, act on the exception and keep the record for any later dispute.

Inside the harness

Business outcome

  • Visibility across the whole fleet. Teams see every tracked asset in one place instead of asking around, which removes the blind spot that begins when an asset leaves the building.

  • Fewer lost and disputed assets. Continuous location and geofence alerts make loss and misuse visible early, and a movement record supports the conversation when a partner disagrees.

  • Manual chasing removed. Alerts and a live view replace phone calls and spreadsheet updates, so staff time goes to exceptions rather than routine checking.

  • Better service to customers. Teams can answer where an asset is and when it arrived with evidence, which builds confidence with the customers and partners who depend on it.

Where it is used

  • Tracking reusable pallets and containers between warehouses, carriers and customer sites.
  • Alerting when equipment leaves an approved site or route without authorization.
  • Proving custody and delivery to settle a dispute with a logistics partner.
  • Combining location data with maintenance or inventory records so asset reports stay in one place.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tracking work indoors or away from a site network?

Devices connect over a cellular network rather than a local one, so reporting does not rely on site connectivity. Coverage still depends on the carrier and the environment, so test in your own locations.

Which AI model answers questions about assets?

You choose. The assistant is model agnostic, and it reads only the tracking data it has been given access to, under your own policy for which model may see which data.

Can we connect our existing systems?

Tracking data can feed other systems through standard interfaces, and workflow automation work can map it into your reporting or inventory records. Specific integrations are scoped with you per project.

Is this a ready-made product?

It is a solution pattern delivered per project, combining tracking devices, a cloud platform and the harness controls. The scope, devices and alert rules are agreed with each customer.
